Killing the dead!
September 1988 Kosovo.Serbia
The Petrovic family got hit by double tragedy. Their twins died shortly after birth and after burial, their graves were desecrated and their remains shattered all over the place. The horrific scene was discovered by the grandfather. 25 years later the team of journalists visiting the family are surprised to find out they are the first showing interest in this horrible crime.
Their memory is, of course, still very alive. At the mere mention of the reasons why we come mother Dragica hands covering her face and begins to cry. The father of the twins Radojko , tells us how it all was. "When I found out that my wife gave birth to twins there was not a happier man in the world than me. However, one child died 12 hours and another 24 hours after birth. Dragica tearfully talks about the event , " the twins were born prematurely. Doctors thought that the second child might survive but since they were twins, they both died. "
Shortly after the funeral took place the evil that has not been seen anywhere else in the world, took our children remains out of their graves for no sane or understandable reason other than just us being Serbs. We have no quarrel with anyone and we don’t owe anyone anything. Radojko believe the Albanian perpetrators have strong support of their deeds. Almost all Serbs are expelled from Kosovo & Metohija and now all they have left to do is to erase any trace of Serbs having existed in Kosovo by also taking out Serb remains of the dead.
Dragica recalls. "My mother and father in law went to the cemetery. When they got there they could not believe their eyes. One of the babies head was put on a stick and bones scattered everywhere" says Dragica crying. "This was not done by humans" says father Radojko. “It's someone who does not have a God, who does not have faith .... It turned out it was done by Albanian kids, on someone's orders. No way they could come up with something like this by them self."

No way they could come up with something like this by them self."
Serbs from the entire community, men, women and children came to share the grief and to show the grieving Serbian family their respect and sympathy. Hurt and humiliated as no other nation in the world has ever been, the people gathered at the cemetery and then the next day they continued with protests in the center of the village, among others, proclaiming that " Kosovo is Serbia ", "We want freedom," On behalf of the youth of Grace, Ljiljana Mihajlovic spoke and then said, "We will stay in our homes to defend what our forefathers fought for. We just want to have a peaceful and safe life. We were not given birth by our mothers to be, raped, beaten, sworn at and stabbed by separatists."
The perpetrators were soon discovered, five Albanians : Š.K. (15), M. PM. ( 11 ), G. H. ( 12 ) A. And. ( 11 ) and N. Ž. ( 13). According to the police, the case was solved, The guilty were detained and a trial was held. However the trial was held in Albanian language since the accused claimed to not know Serbian language, Serbian is the official language of Serbia and its tought in school so make of that what you want.
The trial was done in one day. Three of them were sentenced to house arrest and two sentenced to 6 months in prison in the Facility, as juveniles. “That time has passed quickly, and they returned home as national heroes." Radojko said.
Today the family can not visit the cemetery of their dead children, not without armed escort. And even then its dangerous. To the Albanians even dead Serb children are enemies. Its my village, my family cemetery, where in the world are people prohibited to visit their family graves? Nowhere, only here and if you are Serb or Gypsy.
Now the event that followed, Petrovići believe is God's providence. "The eldest of the Shiptar children who committed the crime, had an accident in the vicinity. He got struck by High voltage and burned both his legs. "Although at the trial he said he did not know Serbian, at that moment he must have experienced a “miracle”, because he began to speak fluent Serbian asking for help. He knew that there were Serbs harvesting in the nearby corn field. When he started crying he was approached by my cousin who offered to help him and drove him to the hospital in Pristina."
During the ceremony Vidovdan (Veterans Day)2004 The Diocese has awarded the " Serbian mother, Dragica Petrovic medal of the nine Jugović.”
