Serious Violation of US Soldiers in Cernica, Oct 5
After a bomb-attack on one Serb house in Cernica village on October 2 US KFOR troops instead of searching weapons in Albanian homes arrested several Serbs and mistreated them in front of local Albanians. According to the testimony of the villagers, Branislav, Jovan and Srdjan Simionovic were tied by their hands and legs and dragged by US soldiers through the village to the KFOR camp. Zivko Simionovic (35) was beaten by a wooden stick on his hands by a US sargeant Gulliams who was accompanied with a local Albanian girl half dressed in KFOR uniform. When Bishop Artemije and his delegation came to Cernica on Oct 5 to investigate the incident they were almost kicked out from the village by US soldiers who gave them 5 minutes to clear out. Serb villagers complained of unfair and pro-Albanian behaviour of Americans. The case was reported to KFOR headquarters but the results of official investigation on this case have never been made public.
